Interviewing For Assignment

This turned out to be a rather ordinary day as I now define them. English class was rather unremarkable. After class I walked down to New Orleans Party and Costume on Camp St. I have a journalism assignment requiring my to write a story relating Halloween and business, and I thought this place was as good as any. It turned out that this place had just opened so I altered my story idea to be about a newly opened business. The owner of the place was very cooperative. She and her mother-in-law were quite helpful. Having finished there I walked to McDonalds, had lunch, and caught the shuttle uptown. We had a tedious lecture in info. systems class about transaction processing systems. I got my test back from last week. After the curb and lecture bonus, a few points for remaining conscious throughout the class following the test, I had a 110%, bringing by class grade up to 95% after a disappointing grade on my first class. After class I met by Dad at The Boot where the ALCS was on TV. After a drink and seeing the Sox win another game we went home.

A Little Shopping and A Saints Game

Immediately after church, I went with my grandmother to the mall. She was going to buy some book for a gift and she thought my input would help… and I had nothing better to do. After arriving at the mall we walked to the B.Dalton store. They didn't have what she was looking for so we went looking for the other bookstore in the mall but it must have closed. I suggested we drive to the Barnes and Noble nearby. Before leaving the mall we got some ice cream, and then we left for B&N. After getting there it didn't take long to find what she was looking for. She bought the two books and we left. There were some other stores in the same strip mall that she wanted to see so we did. After having browsed around for a bit we stopped at a nearby Popeye's for lunch before she took me home. Later in the evening Dad and I went to see the Saints play the Minnesota Vikings at the Superdome. Our seats were in the terrace but we decided to try and sit in an end one a few rows off the field. The Vikings were in control throughout the game. Two early touchdowns by Minnesota set the tone. The Saints tried playing catch-up during the entire game. In the end they were short by one touchdown with a final of 38-31. We left the game a bit early. After the game we went to The Boot for a little while and saw the Red Sox beat the Yankees with a home run in the 12th inning.

Class, A Screwed Up Lunch and a Couple Movies

Andrew came along on the way to class with Dad today as he was going to Grandma Janet’s house after I was dropped off at school. Class was short today, we discussed television and our tests last week, I got an A. After class I went to an ATM to deposit my paycheck. I then walked back to St. Charles Ave. to catch the streetcar to go to a restaurant to meet Melanie. Unfortunately I really screwed up with that. We agreed to meet at the Trolley Stop Caf. I believe there used to be two locations of this establishment. Suffice it to say I went near the one that had been closed down for over a year. The place I should have gone was on the other end of St. Charles Avenue. I was unable to reach Melanie and I ended up eating at O’Henry’s by myself. It took a while to get home. I took a 45 minute streetcar ride downtown. Our car was jam packed half of the way which was a bit miserable. The bus ride to the west bank wasn’t so bad though. After getting home I just lounged around for a while. I watched a goofy Danny Devito movie called “Renaissance Man” in the afternoon. Dad grilled some ribs and sausages for dinner. Later in the evening my parents went out to see a movie. I had rented “Mystic River” so I watched that. After that it was pretty late in the evening. I used the computer for a while and went to bed.

Friday at Home

I was at home for the second week in a row. I did some work around the house, but nothing of incredible circumstance. I watched a movie during the day and Enterprise among other TV in the evening.

Lunch and Classes

English class was rather dull and incoherent as usual this morning. After class I had some time to pass before taking the shuttle so I wandered the mall and Canal Street for a bit. I sat in the Astor Hotel lobby for a short while to read the paper. I caught the 2:15 shuttle and went to meet Melanie, a classmate in Journalism, for lunch at Bud’s Broiler near the campus. After eating at talking for a while we still had a good while before class started so we walked to Audubon Park to sit around for a while. After talking some more about nothing of circumstance, we went to class. We had a test today, which I think I did well enough on. After the test, the professor talked for a while about our current assignment. Class was dismissed comparatively early. I spoke with Melanie shortly and tried some long exposures of Gibson Hall before heading to the library to meet Dad and go home.

Tuesday

I was at home today to keep Andrew company who had the day off from school today for reasons I don't understand. I didn't get all that much done today, although there wasn't much to do anyway. I probably should have worked on some papers for school but oh well.

Dull Classes

English class was rather dull today. There were only two fellow students. After class I had lunch with Ann at the Chinese place. After stopping in the store I took the shuttle uptown and made my way to the computer lab in Gibson Hall as I have become accustom to doing. I was there until class started. I spent some time on eBay while listening to Rush. I did some studying before tonight’s test. I think I did quite well today. The lecture afterward seemed pretty pathetic as it was about the basics of telecommunications and networking. I spent three years of high school in a Cisco certification class so I didn't walk away feeling very enlightened. Later in the evening after getting home I watched Alexandra Pelosi's “Diary of a Political Tourist.” I certainly don't have any person interest in the democratic presidential candidates but I did find her film amusing and entertaining.

Another Rainy Day

The rainy weather continued today. We didn’t bother to go to church as a result. Today was almost as unproductive as Saturday although I did clean the kitchen floor. I spent most of the day watching an embarrassing number of Stargate SG-1 episodes.

Rainy Day

It rained steadily most of the day today. Not surprising as a tropical storm is passing by at the moment. I went to class this morning to take the first test, I was fortunate enough to get a ride both ways. The ‘exam’ was not difficult and only took about 20 minutes to answer the multiple choice questions and three essays. I was fortunate enough to get a ride both ways. That was the extent of my productivity today. I spend the rest of the day lounging around doing mostly nothing. I finished watching “Lolita” later in the evening.

Friday at Home

Unlike most Fridays, I was at home today. I had the chance to get a few things done. I did a few loads of laundry and washed all of my clothes and some towels. I was able to straighten my room up and clean the kitchen a bit. I watched some TV in the evening, including the presidential debate. Later in the evening I started watching “Lolita.” It’s a long movie and I didn’t finish it.

Lots of Reports

I went to work today at mid city. Dad dropped me off so I could work some dictation. I did 15 reports over the course of the day. I stopped at the deli for lunch and had lasagna. I don’t remember anything of circumstance in the evening. I may have spoken with a friend.

Wednesday

Before heading to the mall for class, I stopped at the post office to mail Mylena’s yearbook. I had to change the box but otherwise it was no hassle. The real trouble will be in making it to it’s destination after it arrives in Costa Rica. English class was ok, if uninteresting. I had lunch with Ann afterwards and stopped in the store for a minute after we ate. After taking the shuttle uptown I stopped into the financial aid office to acquire about my TOPS award. I was told that I would have to steak with the state because I did not claim the money immediately. After that I spend a couple hours in the computer lab. I listened to Rush, browsed ebay and caught up on some log entries among other things. Journalism class was shorter than usual. The professor lectured for a short while, we discussed some examples of the previous assignment. Lastly Mr. Marinello went over our last assignment. After class I spoke briefly with Melanie, a classmate, before going to meet my dad and heading home.

At Work on Tuesday

I worked at mid city this morning. I went through three boxes of patient files to add the date of accident to a spreadsheet. This combined with access to court records is supposed to help get bills paid. Later in the day Dad and I went to Don's house to get some terminal software working. This evening I watched the vise-presidential debate and finished a journalism assignment. I watched “Easy Rider” late in the evening. This movie's ending was just… bad.
